Eco Canteen: High Quality Stainless Steel Water Bottles
Many of our readers are very aware of recent research that has shown how plastic water bottles have the potential to leach harmful chemicals into drinking water. These sturdily build (and affordable) stainless steel water bottles from Eco Canteen are the perfect solution for the conscious consumer that is trying to move away from plastic water bottles. I recently took two of these bottles with me into the Indian Peaks wilderness of Colorado for a ski tour. One filled with cold water, and another filled with hot tea. While many similar bottles can give up heat quickly, these bottles come with a low-profile neoprene sleeve that helps them also function as a thermos. They worked great and I certainly like the clean stainless steel stylings. Our favorite part about this company, and these bottles in particular, is that they are produced by a non-profit to help make them more affordable and to encourage a more mindful approach to staying hydrated. So you can support a good cause, and still have these tough bottles delivered to your door for less than many others in the store.
These flip-flops are remarkable for a couple reasons. The first is that if you are an aggressive recreator like we are, when you inevitably blow out the webbing between your toes, you can actually have these flops repaired owing to the Vibram soles they are fitted with. They are also constructed of a slightly harder material which is less absorbent than leather or other rubbers, which means they clean off much easier. The foot molding is also more athletic than most others we've seen as well.

TerraCycles' All Purpose Cleaner is a great product that goes a few steps beyond most household cleaners in both the quality of the product as well as the packaging. Not only do we feel good about using an all-natural mineral and essential oil based cleaner that effectivly cleans most common spills and grime, but we also love the concept of packaging it in a discarded plastic bottle. Much better in terms of energy demand than actually reprossing the plastic and reforming it, simply putting the cleaner in recovered bottles and using a standard spray top work perfectly. When the bottle is finished, the device could even be resued on another bottle with standard treading. In sum, TerraCycle has produced a great general purpose cleaner with mindful packaging.
